Endangered Animal Story

In my LA class, we read a book called Squirm by Carl Hiassen. In Squirm, there was a hunter who made it his living to poach rare animals, and the main character, Billy tried to do whatever he could to stop him from hurting animals. As for my animal the Indian Rhinos, (Greater One-Horned Rhino) poachers are the biggest threats of all. Since our species (humans) is these animals biggest threats, we decided to a project so those people can stop poaching innocent animals. We were so lucky to have local artist Peg Gignoux come and help us with making our handmade books. I decided to make a mountainous background because they live in North India/South Nepal which is a mountainous area that includes Mount Everest. Then we wrote stories about these animals from the animals point of view and their voice and how you can protect the animal. (Story is above).

Field Trip at the Museum of Life and Science!

Last week, my school went the Museum of Life and Science in N.C. There was so many cool experiences there including an area where butterflies of all kinds lived, a playground, an area where wolfs lived, an area where bears lived and so much more. This felt like I was walking in the footsteps of my childhood because I used to go there so much when I was little. All those areas made the field trip so much fun.

Rory Mcilroy gets back-to-back Masters wins, shooting a 67, 65, 73, and 71. After having a significant lead after the first two days, Rory faced pressure on Sunday after giving up his lead to Cameron Young. Even though he was battling through bad shots, he found a way to get the job done, beating World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. He has now become the fourth player in history to win back-to-back Masters, joining Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods. The Masters is one of the hardest tests in all of golf, playing at historic Augusta National, and hosts 91 of the world’s best players to try to win. Rory Mcilroy is from Holywood, Northern Ireland, and has played golf since he was very young. He won the Masters last year, which he completed the Grand Slam. (Winning the U.S. Open, British Open, PGA Championship, and the Masters.

Science Experiment!

We just did the coolest experiment in Science!  We were handed a light box, which had two wings which were mirrors, then a front where a very bright beam would shine through. The bulb was made out of tungsten which is a special kind of metal. Anyways, we started an experiment by studying Reflection. We soon found a mathematical relationship between the angle of incidence and the angle of reflection. (Angle of reflection= Angle of incidence). Then we started studying refraction. We soon realized that refraction = (the bending of light when it hits a new medium).  Now we have just started the COOLEST experiment of all and we put color filters on to make new colors and then we put an eraser in the light and it brought out different colors!

Snow Day!

I am so happy that my city got 2-3 inches of snow this weekend! It’s very rare for my state to get this much snow, so I’m so grateful that I ended up getting so much snow. I thought sledding with my friends was a lot of fun although some got a little hurt, then went inside and drank hot chocolate, then played a snowball fight.

Book Review

Genre: Realistic Fiction“`

A talented basketball player who had a sad story as a kid.

Have you ever read a book that made your glasses fall off? Probably not, but Fast Break is the one book that made me do that. A kid named Jayson Barnes had once lived in a nice apartment with his mom, Debbie, in East Morehead, North Carolina. They had a basketball court too, which was great for Jayson because he was a basketball player. Jayson’s mom became sick and could no longer work, but that meant she could no longer pay rent. Sadly, a week later, Jayson’s mom died. This had changed everything for Jayson.

I really loved this book because I thought it was so action-packed that I just couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next. One of my favorite parts from this book was when Jayson was trying to find ways to survive on his own without any parents. He really didn’t make good choices when he was on his own, though.

If you ever read this book, what do you think?

This is 5 Stars and by far the greatest book I have ever read.
